Report on an excavation and coring survey to investigate floodplain sediments of the Olway Valley, Gwent, demonstrating over 3m of Holocene floodplain alluvium overlying bedrock close to the valley side in the parish of Llangeview. Archaeology associated with the alluvium includes two Neolithic flint tools; a Roman pot sherd; an extensive medieval stone layer constructed from the debris of a thirteenth-century building, a mixed nineteenth- and twentieth-century artefact assemblage with evidence for the initiation of floodplain drainage.
