The New Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) is a comprehensive plan aimed at transformingthe Indian education system to address the challenges of the 21st century. Aligned with theUnited Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this policy recognizes the crucialrole of education in promoting sustainable development. It emphasizes the importance ofnurturing critical thinking, creativity, and innovation, as well as fostering social andemotional learning. Regarding sustainable development, the NEP 2020 acknowledges thesignificance of education in promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. It seeksto integrate sustainable development education throughout the curriculum and encourage theuse of renewable energy sources in educational institutions. Additionally, the NEP 2020highlights the need for inclusive and equitable education, providing equal opportunities forall learners, regardless of their socio-economic status or physical abilities. This aligns withSDG 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learningfor everyone.
