An archaeological evaluation was required by Leslie Burgher Architect in respect of the proposed extension of an existing dwelling house. Two trenches comprising 30 square metres were originally proposed to cover 11% of the total red line development boundary. However, constraints consisting of a garden shed and a drain cover, reduced the area of these trenches to 20 square metres. In addition, a third trench comprising 2m square metres was excavated to evaluate the area immediately south of the existing house. A stone paved surface, likely prehistoric in date, was identified in all of the trenches. The paving continued north below modern drainage pipes and the existing house. Artefacts retrieved from the topsoil included: a saddle quern fragment, coarse stone tools, an iron object, pottery, and animal bone.
