AOC Archaeology Group were commissioned by Darke Engineering on behalf of Scottish Gas Network (SGN) to monitor archaeological works consisting of a monitored topsoil removal along the route of a replacement underground gas pipeline. These works were located between the existing gas valve compound in Drummieknowes Woods to the North of Pitcairngreen, Perth and Kinross (NO 06564 28192) to the existing gas valve compound at Huntingtower, Perth and Kinross (NO 07876 25205). The area under investigation is mainly greenfield with agricultural activity, particularly to the North side of the project at the area from the compound to the North of Pitcairngreen and from the compound to the south of the development continues through the residential area of Ruthvenfield to north-east of Huntingtower. Several archaeological features were observed and excavated during the watching brief . Notably a possible stone lined well, the remains of a stone boundary wall, a cobbled track way, a number of field drains, and two pits of indeterminate function and origin.
