An archaeological metal detecting survey was undertaken across three fields at Findrassie, Duffus Road, Elgin to support a planning application for a new residential development and associated infrastructure. The metal-detecting survey was carried out over five days between 9th and 16th May 2023. The survey recovered a total of 72 objects comprising both ferrous and non-ferrous metal objects and fragments. Overall, the finds retrieved largely represent the remains of post-medieval and modern agricultural and domestic activities, with a small number of potentially early post-medieval dress accessories. The finds consisted of coins, dress accessories, building fixtures and furniture fittings, household items, tools, farm implements, ammunition, and other scrap fragments. Seven finds from amongst this assemblage are recommended for retention for long-term curation: a strap end, a 3-piece button with a clan or regimental crest on its face, a silver coin, a decorative mount, a Tombac button, a lead bullet, and a cast vessel foot.
