An archaeological watching brief was required by the Scottish Water, during pipework rehabilitation between Roster and Occumster in Caithness. The requirement had arisen as the development site is located in an area with potential for the survival of buried archaeological deposits. Over two separate periods of excavation in July and November 2023, two areas of pipeline trenching was monitored. Despite the potential for buried archaeological remains no evidence was observed and as a result no further archaeological monitoring was required for the remainder of these works.
Murray et al. (Sun,) studied this question.
