An archaeological Photographic Survey and Watching Brief project was commissioned during the development of an extension to a dwelling at High Street, Elgin. This was undertaken in order to fulfil a planning condition related to application 22/00778/APP. The fieldwork was undertaken on 19th September 2024. The foundation walls of an outhouses attached to 87d High Street were uncovered and recorded during the course of the watching brief. In addition, a concrete tank believed to be part of a modern soakaway or septic tank and a drain were recorded but were not believed to be archaeologically significant. If further excavation is required during these works then further watching brief should be undertaken by a qualified archaeologist otherwise no further work is recommended.
