Effect of Digital Technologies on Teaching Business Education Courses in Universities in the South-East Nigeria

The study examined the Effect of Digital Technologies on Teaching Business Education Courses in Universities in South-East Nigeria. The specific purposes were to examine the effect of Internet-Based Tools & Platforms on Teaching Business Education Courses in Universities and evaluate the effect of Virtual Collaboration & Communication on Teaching Business Education Courses in Universities in South-East Nigeria. The study proposed a descriptive survey research design and mixed method of data collection, allowing for data collection from a population of 81 Business Educators in seven public universities across the states in South-East Nigeria. A pilot study was conducted on the well-structured and validated instrument using 20 Business Education lecturers in Delta State. Reliability estimates, Cronbach’s Alpha>0.70 and AVE>0.50, confirmed acceptable internal consistency of the research instrument. Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and Regression analysis methods were adopted. Results reflected a positive relationship and statistically significant effects of Internet-Based Tools & Platforms, and Virtual Collaboration & Communication on Teaching Business Education Courses in Universities in South-East Nigeria. Conclusion was drawn that digital technologies of Internet-Based Tools & Platforms and Virtual Collaboration & Communication have a significant positive effect (F-stat. = 93.221, p=0.0021) on Teaching Business Education Courses in Universities in South-East Nigeria. The study recommended that University lecturers and departments should actively integrate internet-based tools and platforms into Business Education instruction
