Purpose: This study aims to present commercialization strategies by analyzing the drone delivery pilot project in Ulju-gun, focusing on the construction of a customized drone delivery network tailored to tourist destinations and the development of efficient logistics operation strategies. Through this analysis, the study explores how drone delivery can be integrated with local distribution networks to establish a sustainable logistics system.Research design, data, and methodology: This study outlines the process of building drone delivery infrastructure and establishing a delivery network in Ulju-gun. It also explains the development of logistics operation models and product selection procedures. Based on empirical data such as delivery distance, delivery time, and order patterns, the study analyzes operational performance and derives commercialization strategies from the perspectives of logistics, operations, and regional collaboration.Results: The study confirms that drone delivery can serve as an effective alter- native in mountainous tourist destinations and other areas with limited vehicle access. In such regions, order volumes tend to concentrate during specific time periods, requiring flexible operational strategies to accommodate fluctuating demand. For successful commercialization, integrated logistics operations —including inventory management, product selection, and packaging standardization—are essential. Moreover, collaboration with local stores can improve logistics efficiency and contribute to revitalizing the local economy.Implications: Drone delivery demonstrates strong potential as a real-time last-mile service connecting tourists with products in regions with limited distribution access. It shows promise for evolving into a smart supply chain management model tailored to tourist destinations and highlights its value as a service tool to enhance tourist convenience. Furthermore, the study empha- sizes that delivery hubs can be developed into integrated hubs that link tour- ism and local commerce, beyond merely serving as logistics bases.
