This interview is part of the “Caste in Canada” oral history project. “Caste in Canada” comprises interviews with nineteen Canadians of Dalit background, documenting their histories, experiences, and understanding of the implications of caste in Canada. The subject of this interview, Vijay Puli, holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and has significant experience working with marginalized communities. In Canada, he provides social work services and is the founder and Executive Director of SADAN (South Asian Dalit Adivasi Network Canada), a non-profit addressing caste discrimination.
