The publisher of International Journal of Operations & Production Management wishes to retract the following article: Lewis M, Thürer M (2026), “Who sees what, why and how? Rethinking transparency and opacity in OSCM”. International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Vol. 46 No. 1 pp. 106-123, doi: https://doi.org/10.1108/IJOPM-05-2025-0457. It has come to the attention of the Co-Editors-in-Chief that a significant number of the references cited in this article contain errors or cannot be verified. The authors initially brought these issues to the attention of the Co-Editors-in-Chief and, during the subsequent investigation, admitted to the use of generative artificial intelligence in the creation of the article without disclosure. This is in breach of Emerald's and the journal's policy on artificial intelligence and authorship and as a result, the content of the article cannot be relied upon. The decision to retract has been informed by COPE's guidelines on retractions and Emerald's publishing ethics. The authors would like to note that they agree with this retraction. The publisher sincerely apologizes to the readers.
