Abstract This ArcGIS 10.2-based study analyzes 1996–2025 Godavari River runoff/discharge data to create GIS/remote sensing flood control strategies for Andhra Pradesh. Addressing sedimentation, excess runoff, erosion, and human impacts, it applies flood frequency analysis, watershed delineation, reservoirs, recharge, and embankments—evaluating hydrological parameters via satellite vulnerability mapping (IRS P6 LISS-III, SRTM-DEM). Multi-criteria analysis zones high-risk areas like Eluru, East/West Godavari, and Kona Seema districts; NRSC/ArcGIS data flags cropland deltas for alerts. It enhances preparedness (real-time rainfall/runoff/inundation monitoring), resistance (embankments/vegetation vs. erosion), and long-term recovery (recharge/reservoirs for sustainable water in a changing climate). Keywords: Godavari River basin, Geospatial technology, sedimentation, mitigate flood.
