Pre-Construct Archaeology Ltd was appointed by Ross Galtress (the Client), to carry out an archaeological watching brief at 2 & 4 Swan Lane, Winchester during excavations regarding a development comprising a rear ground floor extension. This included an initial foundation strip and a deeper raft strip. In accordance with the approved Written Scheme of Investigation, prepared in respect of Condition 4 and 5 of planning consent, watching brief monitoring visits were made on the 4th to the 12th April 2024, coinciding with the excavation of the foundation and raft of the respective extension. No significant archaeological features or artefacts were uncovered during the excavations carried out at 2 & 4 Swan Lane, Winchester. It is concluded that these works were achieved without impact on significant archaeological remains.
