The archaeological watching brief involved supervision of general ground reduction, excavation of strip footings and installation of new services. Where necessary, surfaces were hand cleaned for examination and recording and deposits observed were recorded on standard pro-forma recording sheets. A digital colour photographic record was maintained, some of which is reproduced in Appendix 1, plates 1 - 5 of the report. All work was carried out according to the agreed Written Scheme of Investigation (Roberts 2024) and in accordance with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) Standard for Archaeological Monitoring and Recording (2023). The fieldwork was undertaken by James Roberts and Michael Blake. The watching brief revealed that the site has been fully truncated to the natural geology. This is likely to have occurred soon after the house was built in the mid-20th to provide a level garden. This is supported by the presence of 20th century pottery within the infill deposit (101). No archaeological features were present within the monitored area and the results are presented with a high confidence rating.
