In October 2009, ARCUS were commissioned by Derbyshire County Council to undertake an archaeological watching brief on a site at Monks Road, Charlesworth (NGR SK 024 912). The watching brief was required as a condition of planning consent for redevelopment at the site. The scope of works consisted of clearing scrub and topsoil and grading down the existing ground level to create better visibility at the junction of Monks road and a minor road at a new bridleway crossing. Several Holloways were uncovered which were found to be continuing from the adjacent field and had been investigated in previous work. Also found was a small ditch associated with the existing path. .
