The article systematically examines metaphors and figurative expressions in the works of Huseyn Javid, a prominent playwright and poet who holds a special place in 20th-century Azerbaijani literature. The main purpose of the study is to identify the lexical-semantic and morphological features of metaphors in Javid’s dramatic works, as well as to demonstrate the poet’s role in enriching the Azerbaijani literary language. In his dramas, Huseyn Javid skillfully employs epithets, metaphors, and other artistic means of expression, each serving to create vivid imagery and strong emotional impact. The poet’s use of words is not only meaningful but also stylistically purposeful, with a preference for artistic linguistic devices, which further emphasizes the significance of his creative work. Studying Javid’s language allows for tracing the development of 20th-century Azerbaijani literary language, exploring its origin, word formation, dialects and vernaculars, phraseology, and other artistic linguistic tools. The findings of the research indicate that the language and style of Javid’s dramas not only create artistic richness but also significantly contribute to the development of national consciousness and the awakening of aesthetic sensibilities. Huseyn Javid’s creativity serves as an exemplary model in Azerbaijani literature regarding the improvement and refinement of language and artistic means of expression.
