It is the purpose of this study to determine what vocative forms are used in the Gāthās, and to draw a tentative conclusion as to their pāda-position. Under these two headings, then, form and pāda-position, will be discussed first the five problem-words, mazdāh-, aša-, vohu- manah-, xšaθra-, ārmaiti-, and then all other words which are taken as vocatives either in BGA or in the translation appended to these Studies.
