§86 . In the preceding chapters we have seen that, with one exception, all declensional forms ending in a short syllable are found more frequently in the second hemistich than in the first. Reference to the tables will indicate that all other declensional forms, again with one exception, are found more frequently in the first hemistich than in the second. It will be the purpose of this final chapter to determine the conditions under which forms ending in long syllables may be used in the latter hemistich.
