Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a critical driver of innovation in education and industry, significantly contributing to sustainable development by enhancing efficiency, accessibility, and resource optimization. AI-based systems enable personalized education, skill-oriented learning, smart manufacturing, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible industrial practices. However, the increasing reliance on AI technologies raises complex legal challenges concerning data protection, accountability, transparency, intellectual property rights, and ethical governance. This paper critically examines AI-driven innovation within the framework of sustainable development, focusing on the legal implications of AI adoption in education and industry. It analyses how existing Indian legal frameworks—particularly business law, cyber law, data protection principles, and constitutional safeguards—address the risks and opportunities associated with AI technologies. The study highlights regulatory gaps that may hinder responsible innovation and sustainable growth. It argues that effective legal governance is essential to ensure that AI contributes to long-term social, economic, and environmental sustainability while protecting fundamental rights. The paper concludes by proposing legal and policy reforms aimed at balancing technological advancement with ethical responsibility and sustainable development goals.
