The electoral process is an important process of democracy. Among the few countries in the world that practice democracy, India ranks very high. India is known as a democratic country. Elections are the basic foundation of democracy. We have accepted a democracy based on mature voting rights. In a democracy, the people are not subjects but citizens. The sovereignty of the country depends on the people. The power and wealth of the country belong entirely to the people. The duties of the country are created through the rulers. No law or policy is implemented except as they are formulated. Since the people of the country are the supreme authority, all laws should protect the interests of individuals, institutions and citizens. Democracy is not just about elections, and just because elections are held does not mean that there is democracy. Through the electoral process, the people can actively participate in the decision-making process in a democracy. Today, elections are becoming a necessity in India because due to the size of the state and the growing population, it is not possible for all the people to sit together, exchange ideas, make laws, and implement decisions.
