This study examines the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of hospitals in Enugu Urban, Nigeria, focusing on identifying key factors that influence their performance and resource utilization like healthcare operations, financial management, staffing, supply chain efficiency and resource allocation. A qualitative case study method approach was employed, involving case studies, and analysis of best practices to assess hospital operations, financial management, staffing, supply chain efficiency, and resource allocation. This study also examined existing healthcare policies to provide actionable insights. The evaluation revealed challenges in financial management, staffing, and resource allocation, which hinder hospital efficiency. In addition, gaps in healthcare policies were identified that impact the sustainability of hospital operations. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers and hospital administrators, suggesting that improving healthcare operations, financial sustainability, and policy effectiveness could enhance the overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness of hospital services in Enugu Urban.
