Abstract Organizations are deciding before they have processed what their decisions mean. Leaders are replaced and the same dysfunction reconstitutes around their successors. Decisions are reversed without new information. Initiatives stall without identifiable opposition. This paper names the shared mechanism: premature closure under degraded interpretive capacity, or more simply, deciding too soon. Post-Heroic Leadership (PHL) is introduced as a formally specified model of what leadership must become under this condition: the regulation of the conditions under which decidability can form before closure occurs. The model comprises three constitutive dimensions, containment, authority decentering, and epistemic discipline, each targeting a specific dimension of Organizational Metabolization Capacity (OMC) that accelerating conditions degrade. Together they regulate a single process: the formation of decidability. The paper draws on psychoanalytic group theory, high reliability organization research, institutional leadership theory, the empirical judgment literature, temporal structuring research, and distributed cognition theory, integrating them through the Morgan Working Paper Series canon on decidability and acceleration without metabolization. A falsification criterion specifies that if PHL practices restore interpretive capacity, dysfunction should not reconstitute around successive leaders. The central claim is simple enough to state in four words: organizations are deciding too soon. Post-heroic leadership is the structural response.
