The application of theoretical frameworks in nursing research is essential in guiding the development, implementation, and interpretation of studies. Theoretical frameworks provide a structured lens through which complex healthcare phenomena are understood, ensuring coherence between research variables and enhancing the scientific rigor of investigations. In nursing, the integration of theory into research strengthens evidence-based practice and supports the advancement of professional knowledge. This study aims to examine the application of theoretical frameworks in nursing research and their significance in improving research quality and clinical relevance. This study employed a literature review research design, analyzing peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and scholarly publications from 2015 to 2025. Databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, and Google Scholar were utilized to retrieve relevant sources. Inclusion criteria focused on studies that explicitly incorporated theoretical frameworks in nursing research, while unrelated or outdated materials were excluded. Data were synthesized using thematic analysis to identify common patterns, applications, and challenges associated with the use of theoretical frameworks. Findings reveal that theoretical frameworks are widely used to guide research design, variable selection, data collection, and interpretation of findings. Commonly applied frameworks include nursing theories, behavioral models, and systems theories. The use of theoretical frameworks enhances clarity, consistency, and validity in research, while also facilitating the integration of findings into clinical practice. However, some studies report challenges such as inappropriate framework selection and limited understanding of theoretical concepts among researchers.
