The archaeological watching brief comprised the observation, investigation and recording of below ground works on the site for the new house development. This comprised the continuous observation of the removal of the modern concrete garage floor/foundation and underlying subsoil and below this natural geology during the excavation of foundation trenches. Hand excavation was employed to check where necessary and clean prior to photography and recording. Archaeological features identified were excavated by hand and all deposits encountered during the excavation were fully recorded, following standard MOLA procedures The works revealed a modern concrete garage base and subsoil, natural geology. One early 20th century rubbish pit was located but not excavated / disturbed by the foundation trenches. Finds comprised modern broken glass fragments and were not retained.
