Abstract The use of social media in education ranges from how students interact with content to how educators design and share their learning materials. One of the primary ways in which it influences education is through communication. In the past, communication between students and teachers was limited to class time and tutorial hours only. Nowadays, thanks to platforms such as WhatsApp or Facebook, students can ask questions, discuss class topics or share resources in real time, which, in addition to promoting greater participation, also allows for more fluid and consistent learning. This is particularly beneficial in primary education, where younger students may require more immediate feedback and guidance. Another fundamental aspect is the potential to create online learning communities, enabling students to connect with their peers, form study groups and collaborate on projects. However, they can also access a wealth of resources, enriching the learning process by providing different perspectives and up-to-date material that cannot always be found in textbooks. Education is a very important social institution of is a secondary social institution that satisfies the intellectual hunger of man. Mass media has had both positive and negative effects on education and learning in the past.
