This technical note presents a practical infrastructure engineering case study focused on Windows Server operations, security health checks, remediation workflows, and operational governance in enterprise Microsoft environments. The project demonstrates a structured framework for improving server health visibility, supporting compliance activities, standardizing operational procedures, and strengthening infrastructure reliability through documented controls and PowerShell-supported administration. The case study is modeled around environments utilizing Windows Server 2019/2022, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Hyper-V, and PowerShell administration. It covers operational domains including server health monitoring, Active Directory validation, DNS and DHCP checks, security remediation workflows, inventory reporting concepts, root cause analysis methodology, and runbook-driven operational support. Key focus areas include proactive health checks, remediation of non-compliant settings, structured documentation, inventory visibility, and PowerShell-based reporting to support repeatable operational controls. The framework emphasizes server administration as an engineering discipline that combines monitoring, governance, automation, and troubleshooting rather than reactive support alone. This work also explores how operational controls and documentation can support security compliance, maintenance readiness, and datacenter administration practices while aligning with responsibilities typically associated with senior server engineering roles.
