Gender-affirming Surgery also known as sex reassignment surgery or sex change surgery is a surgery that changes a person's physical and sexual appearance. Many countries like Russia has put a ban on such type of surgery as it morally affects its ideology and goes against the morality. The gender once changed, one cannot go back to the original sex assigned by birth, mostly this surgery is undergone by transgender. Even though sex change surgery is considered a matter of individual personal choice it might have some socio-cultural consequences. If a transgender is undergoing a surgery of sex change as per The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Rule,2020, if one wants to become male or female the certificate of Medical Superintendent or Chief Medical Officer is to be provided to the District Magistrate for issuance of revised certificate of identity without any physical identity. Males and female belonging to LGBTQIA+ community are not granted any kind of liberty that is provided to a transgender and no such act exists. This paper place heavy reliance with legal and moral challenges that a human being faces in society who undergoes sex change surgery and how law relating to sex reassignment surgery can be formed, which would ultimately be beneficial to LGBTQIA+ community.
