Mathematics is a fundamental subject that plays a vital role in students’ academic and professional development. However, achievement in mathematics at the secondary level is often influenced by a variety of factors, including psychological, social, and instructional variables. This study aims to examine the key factors affecting students’ achievement in mathematics at the secondary level. The study adopts a descriptive and correlational research design, focusing on variables such as students’ attitude towards mathematics, mathematics anxiety, interest in the subject, study habits, and teacher-related factors. The findings indicate that positive attitudes, strong interest, and effective teaching practices contribute significantly to higher achievement, while mathematics anxiety and poor study habits negatively affect performance. The study highlights the need for a holistic approach to mathematics education, emphasising student-related issues and improving achievement at the secondary level.
