Digital transformation has emerged as a critical driver of change within contemporary education systems. The integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud-based learning platforms, data analytics and virtual classrooms has significantly reshaped teaching and learning practices. This study presents an analytical review of digital transformation in education by examining scholarly research trends, national policy initiatives and implementation challenges. Using Scopus-indexed literature published between 2015 and 2023, the paper identifies key growth patterns and dominant research themes. In addition, major digital education initiatives introduced under India’s National Education Policy 2020 are evaluated to understand their role in promoting technology-enabled learning. The study also highlights persistent barriers such as infrastructure limitations, digital skill gaps and access inequality that continue to affect the effective adoption of digital education models.
