Abstract

The article discusses changes in the material culture of South Arabia in Early Himyarite times (1st century BC – 3rd century AD). They are to be understood as an evolving process that was caused, among others, by external influences mainly from the Mediterranean cultural sphere. An analysis of this new formal language is based on selected objects above all from the archaeological project at Ğabal al-ʿAwd (Yemen).
