During the 9th century BC, at the latest, intense cultural contacts existed between South Arabia and the areas of northern Ethiopia (Tigray) and south-eastern Eritrea (Akkälä Guzay). In the following article, the reasons and mechanism for this interaction are discussed with regard to the results that have been made in recent fieldwork and epigraphic studies at the pre-Aksumite site of Yeha (Ethiopia).
