his work analyzes the R.C.A.P. principle (Configurational Recognition through Actualization of Predefined Patterns), originally implicit in Italian patent IT 1,183,052 (1984), in light of preattentive visualization mechanisms. The study demonstrates how the 1984 device exploits ultrafast cognitive channels of the human visual system — colour, curvature, and spatial position — to transform a combinatorial explosion of possible states into immediate recognition through geometric correspondence. The principle is examined through a structural comparison with heterogeneous systems, including the Boeing 767 EICAS, the F-35 HMDS visor, Apple Watch Activity Rings, and autonomous driving systems. These systems show independent convergence toward the same architecture: the transformation of data into predefined perceptual configurations enabling direct recognition. The work establishes that the R.C.A.P. principle operates at the level of preattentive cognition, where recognition precedes analytical processing, and identifies this mechanism as a structurally constrained solution to complex information integration under time-critical conditions. This document complements the theoretical and operational formulations of R.C.A.P. by providing its cognitive and perceptual foundation.
