This paper is the fourth paper in the Resonant Systems series, following Resonant Systems I, which established the program’s first three substrate cases across engineered, Solar-System, and molecular architectures: Resonant Institute. (2026). Resonant Systems I (Version v1). Zenodo. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19880027 Earth as Resonant Engine extends that series to a fourth substrate: the planetary electromagnetic body. It proposes Earth as a planetary-electromagnetic instance of the tetrad-cycle architectural family developed in the Resonant Systems Program. The primary claim is internal to Earth: the planet’s electromagnetic system can be read as a four-role architecture in which the geodynamo-generated geomagnetic field serves as the persistent connective substrate; global, ionospheric, and magnetospheric current systems serve as active circulation; Schumann, ionospheric, magnetospheric, and field-aligned structures serve as topology-to-current mapping; and storms, substorms, geomagnetic jerks, excursions, and reversals serve as topology-reorganizing events. The paper’s contribution is architectural rather than a replacement of established geophysics. It shows that known phenomena normally studied separately—geodynamo dynamics, Schumann resonances, ionospheric currents, field-line resonances, magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, secular variation, and core-flow dynamics—can be organized as a single four-role electrodynamic decomposition with empirical consequences, as predicted by Energetic First Principles (E1P). A secondary claim concerns external coupling. Earth is electromagnetically open: solar-wind and IMF forcing, lunar-tidal signatures, ocean-tidal magnetic constituents, atmospheric conductivity, lightning distribution, and space-weather forcing all modulate terrestrial electromagnetic observables. The paper introduces the term Kosmosphere for the totality of cosmic-active forces engaging Earth’s connective magnetic core. Directly measured solar and lunar channels are treated as established external coupling; broader Solar-System harmonic imprinting remains a controlled, falsifiable hypothesis.
