This course will include exploration of scientific literature studying organisms interactions with their abiotic and biotic environments. Additionally, the integration of the Ecological Society of Americas (ESA), four-dimensional ecology education (4DEE) framework will support the exploration core concepts (1), practices (2), human-environment interactions (3), and cross-cutting themes (4). In the laboratory section, we will investigate these four main areas and methods in which ecologists study patterns and processes that influence these impacts. Protocols and assessments from the Mycological Curriculum for Education and Discovery (Myco-Ed), a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) will be implemented in the laboratory section.
