ABSTRACT: In his Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Verbum Domini of 2010, Benedict XVI addresses the sacramentality of the word and explains Christ's presence in the word in analogy to his real presence in the Eucharist. This raises the question of the relationship between word and Eucharist. Highlighting the sacramentality of the word also has a direct impact on the understanding of Scripture in the liturgy. This article contextualizes Benedict's teachings in Verbum Domini related to Bible and liturgy and presents characteristics of a liturgical hermeneutics of Scripture.
