The module was implemented in a biology course for STEM majors at a community college. The carbon cycle was discussed in class the week before the module was implemented. The module was another extension of the application of the carbon cycle in the environment. Students completed the module individually in its original form, with no modifications. The purpose of using the original module was to gauge my student understanding of the authors materials. Students worked 40 minutes on the module and then completed the embedded posttest. After completing the module and test, we discussed the content. Students also provided feedback on the module and their ability to comprehend the information. Overview of the Module: The module explores a research study that examined the role of the carbon cycle in a tropical stream. The amount of carbon dioxide emitted to the atmosphere was examined. Summary of the Implementation Plan and Teaching Notes. The module was implemented in Principles of Biology II courses for STEM majors at a community college, Georgia State University Perimeter College-Decatur Campus. Students completed the original module, as written by the authors, individually at their own pace. After reading through the module, they completed the post-assessment within the module. The class discussed the content at the conclusion of the module. No new documents or edits to the content were created for the implementation. The carbon cycle content was in alignment with the course goals and student learning objectives. Support was provided by:Agrant from the United States National Science Foundation (DBI-RCN-UBE 2120141).
