The subject of the research is China's digital trade in the context of global economic integration. The paper discusses in detail aspects of the topic such as the innovative characteristics of this sector. Today, digital technologies are rapidly evolving. The main driver of growth is the synergy of new technologies, changes in business models, and institutional transformations. Particular attention is given to practical development issues. The analysis shows a mismatch between supply and demand, which is especially evident in the area of regional digital infrastructure. There is also a high degree of homogenization. The level of development of many trade models remains low. The system of institutional oversight is insufficiently adaptive. There are difficulties in data management. The basic potential for digital innovations is noted to be weak. Additionally, there is a shortage of qualified personnel. High-quality development of digital trade requires systemic solutions. The study employs a systematic analysis method of the internal mechanisms of digital trade. This methodology allows for a comprehensive assessment of the current state of the industry, identification of key barriers, and determination of ways to overcome them for further qualitative growth. The main findings of the research are well-founded proposals for the systemic restructuring of the industry. The novelty of the research lies in the comprehensive approach to modernizing digital trade. A strong foundation is necessary for the active development of C2M (consumer-to-manufacturer) formats. This also applies to streaming e-commerce and digital services trade. The infrastructure foundation must be reliable and balanced. At the same time, there is an urgent need for changes in regulations. There is a need to create an inclusive system of institutional guarantees. It is necessary to enhance the training of interdisciplinary specialists. It is important to stimulate collaborative innovations throughout the entire value chain. These measures are a key pathway to overcoming barriers. They open up new broad prospects for China. The country will be able to deeply participate in the formulation of rules for global digital trade, which will ensure a comprehensive qualitative leap in competitive advantages in the foreign trade sector.
