India is the major producer of mango among the countries in the world. India ranks first among world mango producing countries accounting for about 50% of the world’s mango production. The present study was undertaken using the secondary data drawn from both State and Central Government sources in respect of area, production and productivity and export of mango. India currently exports mango to over 50 countries. However, only a few varieties are commercially-cultivated throughout India. Most of the Indian mango varieties have specific eco-geographical-requirements for optimum growth and productivity. India has exported 81,317.52 metric tonnes of mango in 2008-09 it was highest recorded after that the export has been decreased significantly between 2009-10 and 2017-18. The country has exported 110,923.24 metric tonnes of mango pulp to the world for the worth of Rs. 673.93 crores during the year 2018-19.
