Around 80 WorldTour and ProTeam athletes, with 20 in longitudinal VST monitoring (48-week cohort)
Functional ventilatory profiling using proprietary indices (ICIF, IMD, ECFI, IPV) and VST monitoring
Gain in watts at ventilatory thresholdssurrogate
Presents a novel interpretive framework of proprietary ventilatory indices to bridge static capacity and dynamic use in elite athletes.
This article is not a literature review on ventilatory physiology. It presents an interpretive framework I have developed over six years of repeated measurements — around 80 WorldTour and ProTeam athletes profiled, twenty in longitudinal VST monitoring, hundreds of monitorings per year. The proprietary indices I present — ICIF, IMD, ECFI, IPV — did not emerge from theoretical intuition. They emerged from recurrent patterns that published markers did not describe. The article positions them as bridges between static capacity and dynamic use, to be read in pairs within a framework of discriminants. And it explains why this measurement architecture is inseparable from the VST project — the ventilatory driver that produces, on the 48-week cohort, the bulk of the gain in watts at ventilatory thresholds.
