The study assessed the need for specialized petroleum arbitration, through a study of the International Center for Marketing Investment Disputes, and addressed the extensional problem of the nature of this center and the scope of its specialization, and what is moving towards resolving investment disputes through the International Center for Marketing Investment Disputes. The study aimed to clarify the reasons for the need for petroleum arbitration and to identify the extent to which ordinary arbitration provisions apply to petroleum arbitration, as well as to identify the position of the Iraqi legislator and national and international legislation on resorting to arbitration in resolving disputes arising from petroleum contracts, by following the descriptive and analytical approach. The importance of the study is highlighted by giving a clear vision of the Iraqi legislator who aims to legislate an arbitration law after adopting arbitration in various places to settle commercial and investment disputes, and thus calling on the legislator to think carefully about explicitly praising his legislative approach that he intends to adopt for petroleum arbitration.Accordingly, this study was divided into the following two sections:The first requirement: the scope of jurisdiction of the International Center for Settlement of Investment DisputesThe second requirement: The role of petroleum arbitration in setting visions for the settlement of oil investment contracts
