Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken during groundworks associated with the replacement of a new water main pipeline at Crockerton in Wiltshire. The replacement pipe used directional drilling along much of the route, which crosses under the River Wyle and the surrounding flood plain. Archaeological mitigation, including earthwork survey of relict water meadow earthworks features was required for the open-cut portions of the schemes. Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken by AC archaeology in July 2023 during groundworks associated with the replacement of a water pipeline near Crockerton, Wiltshire (ST 86834 42126). The work included an initial earthwork survey of relict water meadow earthworks and subsequent archaeological monitoring and recording during groundworks comprising an easement strip and trenching either side of the River Wylye.
