In accordance with the Standard and Guidance for Historic Environment Desk-Based Assessment (CIfA 2020), the assessment draws together available information on designated and non-designated heritage assets, topographic and land-use information so as to establish the potential for non-designated archaeological assets within the study site and a 300m radius study area. The assessment includes the result of an examination of published and unpublished records, and charts historic land-use through a map regression exercise. Within the study area there is a: " Low potential for prehistoric, Roman, and early medieval archaeology " Moderate potential for medieval archaeology " High potential for post-medieval archaeology Any remains surviving would be of low to moderate significance depending on their character and level of preservation. This is based on the location of the proposed site being very near the Saxon and medieval town (including the site of a 13th century mill), and the known post-medieval structures previously located on it.
