All fieldwork was undertaken in accordance with current best practice and the CIfA's Standards and Guidance for Archaeological Investigation and Recording of Standing Buildings and Structures (CIfA 2020) and Historic England's Understanding Historic Buildings (Historic England 2016). A photographic record of the building was completed. Photographs of structural changes and detailed plans were made as appropriate. Existing elevations were checked and amended. A written record of exposed details will be made to supplement the existing record. All recording conformed to the Historic England (2016) guidelines and was carried out to Level 3 standards as appropriate. The results of the level III survey confirmed many of the conclusions from the statement of significance (Milton 2018a), the structure was formed from two main ranges with a smaller structure added. Examination of the fabric of the building and the various cartographic sources allowed a basic phasing (1 to 4) to be proposed for the building.
