This paper is part of a coherent research program developing an informationally emergent physical framework. P04 analyzes the effects of coarse-graining procedures applied to discrete informational systems and formalizes the associated notion of information loss. Starting from the underlying coherent informational network, the paper shows how reduced descriptions naturally arise when microscopic degrees of freedom are integrated out. The work characterizes the conditions under which coarse-graining leads to effective irreversibility, loss of fine-grained coherence, and the emergence of effective macroscopic behavior. These results provide the conceptual bridge between the fully coherent microscopic description and the effective dynamical laws appearing at larger scales. While this paper can be read independently, its full role is understood only within the complete sequence of papers (P00–P32), where coarse-graining plays a central role in the emergence of time, dynamics, and thermodynamic behavior.
