This study examines the applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in infrastructure assessment and development, with particular emphasis on transportation network systems. The research explores how GIS and remote sensing technologies contribute to improved decision-making, spatial data management, transportation planning, and infrastructure optimization within modern urban environments. The study reviews major areas of GIS application in transportation, including vehicle routing, transportation safety analysis, travel demand analysis, traffic monitoring and control, vehicle tracking and dispatching, and service area analysis. Through selected case studies and practical examples, the study demonstrates how GIS-based systems improve efficiency, accuracy, accessibility, and real-time management of transportation infrastructure. The findings reveal that GIS provides a powerful framework for sustainable transportation planning and intelligent infrastructure management by integrating spatial analysis, data visualization, and computational decision-support systems for enhanced urban and regional development.
