This study examined the influence of organizational structure on teacher retention in secondary schools with specific reference to public secondary schools in Akinyele Local Government, Oyo State. The study was motivated by the persistent issue of teachers’ instability in many educational systems, which disrupts instructional continuity and negatively affects students’ academic performance. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design using a sample of 227 teachers in public secondary schools in Akinyele Local Government which were selected using a multistage sampling technique involving simple random and stratified sampling methods. The Data for the study were collected using a structured questionnaire, the reliability of which was confirmed through a pilot test using Alpha Cronbach’s coefficient (0.78). Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Descriptive statistics such as frequency counts and percentages were used to summarize responses. From the result it was revealed that 180 teachers (79.3%) clearly understood their responsibilities not minding the management interference, while 173 teachers (76.2%) maintained that communication between teachers and management was the effective motivation. In addition, 177 teachers (78.0%) indicated their intention to continue teaching in their current schools. Multiple regression analysis further revealed that organizational structure variables significantly predicted teacher retention, with the model explaining 41.2% of the variance in teacher retention (R² = 0.412) and the model being statistically significant (F = 53.39, p < 0.05). The study concludes that role clarity, effective authority relationships, and efficient communication channels significantly enhance teacher retention. It recommends that in order for the school administrators to strengthen the organizational structures, there should be a clear definition of roles, promotion of participatory leadership, and improved communication systems to create supportive working environments for teachers.
