Volume 2026, Issue 6D, 2026(6D), 81 pp. ABSTRACT: This manuscript presents a cross temporal exploration of maternal love and human emotional attachment through four poems spanning more than twelve centuries: Meng Jiao's Song of the Parting Son 《遊子吟》, Wang's Song of the Parting Daughter 《遊女吟》, this publication's New Song of the Parting Child 《新•遊子吟》, and the digital age companion poem To My Beloved Smartphone 《致我最心愛的手機》. The study begins by identifying a long standing gap in classical Chinese poetry—namely, the absence of a canonical maternal poem centered on a daughter's wedding departure. Song of the Parting Daughter fills this gap by transforming the structural logic of Song of the Parting Son while introducing new imagery of tears, hair combing rituals, and the mother's fear of future mistreatment. The manuscript then extends the emotional lineage into the modern era through New Song of the Parting Child, which reimagines maternal care using contemporary symbols such as smartphones and battery charging. This article, "New Song of the Parting Child," while preserving the structure and emotional logic of the original poem, creates a modern version that transforms "threads and clothes" into "mobile phone and charging." This change reflects the shift in mother-child communication in the digital age, while "afraid the battery might run out" echoes the original line "for fear his return be delayed." Through this contrast between old and new, we see that the core of maternal love—meticulous worry and selfless devotion—transcends time, with only its forms and symbols evolving. This article aims to honor tradition through contemporary language and express gratitude to all mothers in the world. Also included in this article is an author's poem: "A Mother's Love" . Finally, the digital age poem To My Beloved Smartphone examines the emergence of intelligent devices as emotional companions, reflecting broader cultural shifts in human–technology relationships. Through textual analysis, comparative study, and cultural interpretation, this work demonstrates that while the symbols of care evolve—from thread to wedding attire, from chargers to cloud memory—the emotional essence of love, worry, and connection remains constant across time. The collection thus offers a unified humanistic perspective on how affection adapts to changing social and technological landscapes. Specifically this collection contributes to contemporary digital humanities by demonstrating how classical emotional structures may survive technological transformation while preserving their ethical and cultural essence.
