The aim of this study was to analyse experimentally the effects of Chinese culture on aesthetic responses, analysing the extent to which the conventional perceptual cues, are utilized by Chinese painters in their landscape paintings. The present study therefore aims to study the aesthetic value and the psychological aspects of Chinese and Western paintings. This involves measuring eye-movements experimentally and relating these to the scanning of Chinese and Western paintings. The data provide a more systematic analysis of aesthetic judgement and perception.
