Food security and sustainable economic growth depend on the agro-industrial complex. The article evaluates the effectiveness of production management in agricultural firms. Resources (land, equipment, labor, and finance), technology, organization, logistics, and the external environment are taken into account as the main elements influencing production. Special attention is paid to modern methods of efficiency assessment, such as key performance indicators, lean manufacturing, resource conservation and digital technologies (digitization, precision farming, Internet of Things, big data). Problems that reduce productivity were identified by analyzing the activities of a particular enterprise. Proven tactics and solutions to these problems are offered in order to optimize procedures, reduce costs and improve management efficiency. It is argued that increasing the competitiveness and sustainable growth of agricultural enterprises requires the use of modern assessment and management methods based on digitalization and resource conservation.
