The trial trenching comprised the investigation of seven trenches distributed across the site. Following the demolition of the modern farmhouse and associated outbuildings, an area measuring c 22 x 15m was subject to SMR excavation, targeted upon the footprint of the previous post-medieval farmhouse. No archaeological remains pre-dating the later post-medieval/modern period were uncovered. However, the modern backfill of a later post-medieval pond was encountered, correlating with historic mapping. Also, several trenches contained modern concrete surfaces and demolition material. Following the demolition of the modern farmhouse and associated outbuildings, an area measuring c 22 x 15m was subject to SMR excavation, targeted upon the footprint of the previous post-medieval farmhouse. The investigation revealed structural remains in the form of several brick walls, floor surfaces, and a cellar. Although heavily truncated, these remains formed elements of the later post-medieval farmhouse and several buildings/extensions appended to its south-west corner, as depicted on historic Ordnance Survey maps. Overall, the results of the fieldwork provide limited evidence of the character and development of the later post-medieval farm.
